The Secret To Looking Good!
|
Exercise programs might be the final key to a healthy long life. While many people focus on diet, they often fail
to add the final component necessary to keep their body healthy, a good exercise program. After all, the phrase is
true, you either use or you lose it and as people age, losing it becomes a bigger possibility since the muscle
tissues seem to disappear faster than when you were younger. That means when you least feel like exercising, your
body needs it most.
You can also find exercise programs designed especially for those that play specific types of sports or are about
to embark on them. These training programs help strengthen the muscles used in each type of physical endeavor. By
doing a little pretraining, the individual is less prone to damage from stressing or straining muscles seldom used
daily.
Even though it's not a sport, prenatal exercise is also one of the newer types of training programs. It takes a lot
of energy and work to produce a baby, as every new mother can attest. Getting back on your feet after a delivery
and back to your original body shape is also another concern. By following the prenatal exercise programs, you'll
find delivery easier because you fine-tune your pushing muscles and recovery tends to be a lot shorter. Giving
birth isn't for sissies but a good training can make it a lot easier than it might have been.
Before you begin any exercise program, you need to decide why you're exercising. That might seem silly but many
people simply clump all exercise into one group and seldom identify their needs. For instance, if you want to
improve your cardiovascular system, you aren't going to do that by lifting weights, unless of course, you're either
moving very rapidly or running while you're lifting.
Over all fitness requires a combination of exercises. Improving muscle tone focuses on strength but also includes
aerobic exercises, isometrics and stretching. A program devoted to increasing your flexibility improves your range
of motion and reduces the potential for injury. Weight loss, focuses primarily on burning calories but also
requires you build muscle to burn them faster.
Some people focus on specific problem areas of their body when they develop an exercise program. If you're tummy is
a dunlap, "dunlap over your belt," you might find leg lifts part of your regimen. However, what most forget is the
body works synergistically. When you focus on one group of muscles, you need to have the opposing group strong
also. Activities such as bike riding might seem like they're simply for the legs, but the muscles in the abdomen
also get quite a workout if you ride consistently.
An article in "The Journal of Physiology" explaining the research from researchers at McMaster University in Canada
shows that a new method of training called HIT, high-intensity interval training, is an alternative to longer more
moderate forms of exercise. If you exercise intensely for minute intervals followed by a minute of rest or cool
down exercise ten times, three times a week, you'll probably have the same effect as hours of traditional exercise,
such as bike riding. There's even a less extreme form of this exercise for those out of shape people that might be
worried about an all out full speed bike ride or run.
No matter what you want to achieve, there's an exercise program calling your name. Even busy homemakers or
executives no longer have the excuse that they don't have time. Just twenty minutes three times a week can get you
back into cardiovascular shape and extend your life. There are also other types of exercise programs for those very
busy people that involve movements made while sitting and combat even the laziest person's reason for not
exercising.
