Weight Loss Diet Plan
A good weight loss diet plan doesn't leave you feeling as though you're suffering from starvation, but rather
that you're choosing to make different choices for a meal. One important trick that helps anyone on a diet is to
eat very slowly. The brain has an automatic shut off valve that makes you feel full but it takes a bit of time to
hit the satiation point. The food has to reach your stomach first, then the body makes the hormone, PYY, that makes
you feel full and the brain has to receive the message. All this takes time and eating slowly can help you
buy that time.
Besides eating slowly, quitting the "Plate Cleaners" club and using a smaller plate are easy tricks to help you
win the battle against weight. A smaller plate filled to the brim looks like a lot more food than a large plate
partially full. It's all in the eyes but it keeps you from putting it all in your stomach. Leaving the table with
food still on the plate is the hardest thing to do. After all, there are starving children across the ocean, so you
must eat the last little bit. Once you learn to leave a little on the plate, you'll find the weight coming
off faster than it had before that. Don't forget, if you're clearing up the table, you're under no obligation to
clean the leftovers by eating those too.
Try to eat a diet that has extra servings of fruits and vegetables. When you
eat fruit, make it fresh fruit. Apple pie does not count as one serving of fruit if you're on a diet. Stick to
fresh chopped apples with a few nuts, raisins, celery and a dab of mayonnaise for a sweet treat that won't add to
your middle.
Keep away from the butter and cheese sauces for the veggies and season them instead with herbs. The herbs add
extra nutrients to your diet without adding a lot of extra calories. Once you learn to love the flavors of fresh
cooked vegetables seasoned with fresh herbs, you'll wonder why you ever used anything else.
Act like a snake and shed the skin. When you eat meat, peel away the skin before you eat. Chicken meat is lower
calorie but the skin has fat directly connected to it and fat, while good in very small portions, can make you fat.
Simply removing fatty skin can lower the calorie count for any meat.
Divide your meals into several smaller meals and don't forget to plan for a snack. If you've ever munched on the
meal as you cooked it, you know that you're not quite as hungry when it's time to eat. Eating a snack or dividing
the meals can keep your blood sugar level and prevent you from inhaling all the food when it's mealtime. Make
your snack a nutritious one that is low calorie. Slice veggies and have them ready for that mid afternoon lull when
the snack machine starts to look like heaven. Low fat yogurt, an apple, raisins and raw nuts are all great
snacks that give you energy and help stave off the hunger but don't add a lot of extra calories. A weight loss diet plan doesn't have to leave you feeling starved, in fact, when you
do it right, you'll always feel full but still lose weight.
